Peak oil! Global warming! Species extinction! Have we gone beyond the point of no return?

Author, custom furniture maker, and visionary Mike Nickerson doesn't think so.

Join him for an evening of discussion, music, and refreshments as he describes steps we can take to change from a growth-oriented society - which must eventually collapse - to a sustainable one.

Mike Nickerson

Mike's first book, Bakavi: Change the World I Want to Stay On (1977) explained the basic goal of sustainability. To take the message into classrooms, living rooms, community halls and institutional offices, he and his associates created an audio-visual discussion kit titled, Guideposts for a Sustainable Future (1990) and in 1993 the book from the kit was published as a standalone edition as Planning for Seven Generations

Recommendations for the new Management Plan for the Northumberland County Forest will be presented at this meeting of the Northumberland County Council.

Area residents are concerned that the Oak Ridges Moraine Conservation Plan may be ignored by Council in the new Management Plan.

Under the provisions of the Oak Ridges Moraine Act and Conservation Plan, low intensity uses only are permitted in Natural Core Areas of the moraine (the designation of the entire Northumberland County Forest).

We need a large contingent of concerned citizens to encourage Council to prohibit motorized recreational vehicles in the Northumberland County Forest, and to ensure that Council is not swayed by lobbyists for the ATV/dirt bike clubs.
